Planes and Points

(not the frequent flyer kind)
Hello, hope you've had a fab week. It's another plane, another blog...
This time I'm saying goodbye to Vegas and on my way to California - which I'm pretty certain I'm going to love!
I'm flying Virgin America for this internal flight and I have to say they're so super cool as an airline... So Much so that they inspired this week’s blog! From the funny attendant boarding us and kept us entertained with his humorous announcements whilst we waited to board... to the really funky 'decor' inside the plane - as much as you can decorate a plane - think minimalistic cocktail bar; smooth white line and dipped purple lighting. Even the safety announcement was a funky cartoon... with an announcement from Mr Branson himself - well okay, it was another cartoon; but it had his cheeky sense of humour - even slipping in jokes about the mile high club! But what he was really letting us know about was the in-flight wifi, gogo - can this plane get any cooler?? Oh wait, yes - they also have these really cool touch screen 'in flight entertainment systems' - which I had to check out and came across the very entertaining The Bold & The Beautiful - and is it me or was Steven Bobby Ewing in a former cheesy drama's life?
Okay, just visited the ‘restroom’ (as they call them in the US) and I’m also impressed with the fact that you can help yourself to bottles of water and the hand soap in the bathroom isn't so full of chemicals that it takes 3 layers of skin off my hands whenever I use it! Mr B obviously understands the importance of little things and would definitely score big on points with Venutians - even Venutian customers like me!
*note for the boys reading this and the reason this article is called planes and points: on planet Venus us ladies love it when you notice and do the little things... And each little thing you do for us earns you an extra point. This is sometimes totally different from what you think will get you a big score on the brownie point front: when you do a really big gesture; like earning enough to buy a plane for us to travel in - which you may think will help you hit the points jackpot - it actually scores the same as a simple gesture in our books; like putting a nice hand friendly soap in the bathroom : )
Anyway - totally impressed and it’s safe to say I will be using Virgin on future trips out here... My new friend Richard has banked up quite a few points with me -and in true Martian & Venutian dynamics his little gestures make me want to do things for him (use his planes and write nice blogs about him recommending his planes) – without expectation - which builds oxytocin (the stress reducing and generally feel good hormone for women) for me. Win win for all!
So I have just over a week in California - 4 days in San Francisco which everyone says is a lovely, laid back city and 4 days at the wellness retreat at John Gray’s ranch - which I'm told is surrounded by beautiful woods and cliff top scenery - sooo excited about seeing both!
Hope you have a great week wherever you are and whatever you’re up to - till then, over and out - from Nadia, via planet Venus, with love x
PS – since writing this I didn’t find internet access straight away so I’ve been in San Francisco for two days... and for those of you who predicted I would love it here; you’re right! : )
